Burlandina
A frigate built in England, which passed through Genoa, Spain and then Malta. Twenty years in the Mediterranean, battles and uncharted routes. Our Friulano has the same quiet intensity.
Built in England at the end of the seventeenth century, the Burlandina had a short and intense life: it passed from the Republic of Genoa to Philip V of Bourbon, then to the fleet of the Order of Malta. In 1716, under the Knights’ flag, it reached Corfu to defend the island from the Ottoman siege.
After twenty years in the Mediterranean, it vanished without a trace. The Friulano that bears its name has been grown at Rocca Bernarda since 1559: a wine that says a great deal without raising its voice.
Round and soft, with the note of bitter almond on the finish that makes it recognisable. Soft pressing, fermentation and ageing in temperature-controlled stainless steel.
