Durantino
A sixteenth-century poet and potter, Solingo Durantino celebrated the Knights’ victory at Malta in verse. Our Pinot Grigio draws complexity and character from the ponca soils of Rocca Bernarda.
Baldantonio Solingo, known as Solingo Durantino, was a sixteenth-century poet and potter from the Marche. A maker of maiolica and a writer of verse, he brought the two arts together in an age marked by the clash between the Christian and Ottoman armies.
Shortly after the Knights’ victory at Malta during the siege of 1565, he published the Stanze in narratione delli gran fatti della guerra di Malta. The Pinot Grigio that bears his name finds in the ponca soils of Rocca Bernarda an uncommon complexity and structure.
